Movie Review – Charlotte’s Web (2006)

Fern is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures--a spider named Charlotte--and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. Seven Samurai

Commence drooling, everybody.Inarguably one of the tent poles of cinema achievement ever, Akira Kurosawa’s irreplaceable Seven Samurai gets a second release from Criterion on DVD, and it’s nothing short of a watershed. Just try not to turn into Gollum from Lord of the Rings while staring at this beautiful 3-disc edition (it is, indeed, precious). Criterion’s late- ‘90s release of Seven Samurai was fine.

Johnny Depp is going from woozy buccaneer to murderous barber. Depp is reuniting with director Tim Burton ("Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") to play the title role in a film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical "Sweeney Todd," about a 19th-century barber seeking bloody revenge over his wrongful imprisonment. The star of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," this year's biggest hit with a domestic gross of $400 million, is expected to do his own singing, said Marvin Levy, spokesman for DreamWorks, which is co-producing "Sweeney Todd" with Warner Bros....
